A Study of Writing Assignments and Professional Development

This techno-pedagogy digital exhibit features (A) digital writing assignments and (B) methods/models of professional development implemented to train and support instructors at three institutions that have received the CCCC Writing Program of Excellence Award: (1) Purdue University, (2) University of Texas, El Paso, and (3) Marquette University. Echoing Bryna Siegel Finer and Jamie White-Farnham’s motives from the 2017 their Writing Program Architecture collection, “we liked the idea of compiling elements common to writing programs…that would offer WPA/scholars models to consider, a template to inspire, and case studies to refer to when undertaking their own projects” (8-9).

We hope this exhibit offers viewers a sense that they are part of a broader community of cross-campus techno-pedagogues that inspires them to consider how they are or might in the future network local techno-ecological elements on their campuses to support teaching “composition in a new key,” to borrow from Kathleen Blake Yancey’s 2004 CCCCs Chair’s Address . By curating internal resources and linking open access resources in a digital space, our ultimate hope is to sustain viewers’ inspiration long after the energy and buzz of CCCCs so that they may remix and refine the wheel, if you will, for their own local contexts.
